A very interactive and collaborative session. We were actively engaged in discussions based on the characteristics of a mentor / coach; their roles and responsibilities as well as Professional Learning Communities; Communities of Practice; Distributed Leadership and the benefits and challenges of each approach.
ReplyDeleteI had hoped to have some demonstrations and role play of what the mentor/ mentee and coach/ coachee partnership should look like. Notwithstanding, the overall session was indeed interactive and engaged all members in their groups to make contributions to selected aspects dealt with in the topic. As teachers we should see positive changes in student behaviour and academic performance with more collaboration within our particular schools as well as with other teachers in the island. Using Facebook , we can collaborate with others within our profession on curriculum matters and teaching strategies and adopt those methods that have proven to be effective in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteThis session was an encouraging an enlightening session.
ReplyDeleteI believe once we have a effective Collaborative Learning Community this will certainly ensure the Lifelong Learning Process. In addition, instead of looking at competing against others we will look at working, sharing, communicating, cooperating, collaborating, creating, and much more, with others.
There is a lot to do though in order to maintain this practice within our profession.
All hands on board! - Let's do it!
