  2. This particular session on ICT Integration into the Curriculum was quite outstanding in my estimation; not only because of the content and delivery of it, but also because it is an area which I thought would be challenging for me. I used to wonder how on earth am I going to use one simple laptop to effectively teach a class of 30+ students but, now I have the know how I will certainly put this and the numerous ways in which I can incorporate ICT tools into my lessons, into practice. This session drove home for me, the relevance of training teachers to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom. After all, there is a definite relationship between training and teacher motivation and I am indeed motivated. Let us all put into practice what we have learnt to reach this generation of children.

    1. I think that this was an excellent session indeed. It not only exposed us to the benefits of using ICT in teaching and learning but it also highlighted the need for us as professionals to engage in continuous professional development activities. This is quite important because we need to be more knowledgeable about 21st century pedagogies that will aid in the successful integration of ICT in the existing school curriculum. It is amazing how we can transform the teaching and learning environment using ICT.

  4. A hallmark of the emerging knowledge-based society is the necessity to learn new things often and thoroughly to maintain and constantly improve your value as an employee. Teachers must teach themselves or get someone to teach them blogging, podcasting, facebooking, google drives, wikispaces, skype, google earth and the myriad avenues technology offers for communicating with students and facilitating their learning. Technology has to be part of a Teacher's arsenal of best practices. Is not the whole point of education to prepare students to be productive persons in the society in which they will eventually live? An excellent teacher has to model this because our students are going to live it.

    1. I do agree with you that our overall educational goal is to develop life-long learners, who will be productive citizens, with all the 21st century skills. Therefore, Information, Media and Technology Skills is one of the 21st Century skills.

We then need to embrace it, implement it, and share it!

  5. This session was a very informative and practical one. My mind was left twirling with the new ideas of ways in which I could use Technology on a wider scale in my Language Arts classes. Although there may be some challenges in the implementation, I believe that the experience of this session will prompt us to want try something new that will not only engage but also educate our students.
