ReplyDeleteToday's session encouraged us to share how we are appraised based on all the human dimensions presented. I commend the unique style of the presenters methods of delivering the information. During the session these are the questions that stirred within our group.
ReplyDelete1. What is our role as mentors/coaches in the appraisal process?
2. Who appraises us?/ Who do we appraise?
3. When is the appraisal conducted?
4. How is the data collected used?
5. Where is the findings of the data disseminated?
It was evident that the appraisal process is a collaborative effort. This means that all is to appraise and to be appraised, and assist the appraiser and the person who is appraised. If that makes sense!
My personal questions were:
1. Is the OECS Teacher Appraisal Form the only Appraisal Form that we use throughout our entire educational system to Appraise all persons? E.g. Education Officer, Principal, Head of Department, and Teacher.
2. After this training, will the proper mechanisms be but in place to ensure that the Teacher Appraisal Form is utilized effectively? If yes, what will they be and how will they be put in place?
Comments: Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed today's session. I had fun! However, I also had times when, 'I wondered'. -SMILE-
Terry-Ann I think that the intention was to help to prepare potential master or senior teachers to be apart of the appraisal process in the future. All with view of improving the entire process. I think though, that many participants were still seeing themselves as the appraisee rather than potential appraiser.
DeleteThe session was O.k. I do not think that the form that is used to assess teachers can be used to assess EO's, Principals, etc. Some of the domains on our form would not be applicable to them. Eg. Classroom Management. I am sure they are appraised in some way or the other.
